Chargeable Weight Guide for Air and Express Freight
Freight cost often changes because the carrier charges the greater of actual weight and volumetric weight. This is why a light but bulky shipment can price like a heavy shipment.

How it works
Volumetric weight is commonly calculated from length x width x height x pieces divided by a carrier divisor.
Air freight and express providers may use different divisors, so the same carton can produce different chargeable weights.
Always compare chargeable weight with actual gross weight before quoting freight.

Record carton dimensions in centimeters or inches consistently and avoid mixing units.
If packaging is not finalized, add a buffer because small carton changes can move freight cost materially.
